Hannah: Pastor Keat, thank you for offering us some insight on marriage! Can you share with me what you’d like to tell young couples?
Pastor Keat: One idea I can share right now is the book, “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. The basic idea is to find out what your spouse’s love
language is and then show and share your love in that way. Here is one personal story from marriage counseling I have done. A married couple came to see me. This was their last attempt to save their marriage. If working with me failed, they planned to get a divorce. They both said they loved one another. I gave them a copy of “The 5 Love Languages.” They read the book and discovered they were trying to express their love in one of the five ways that wasn’t the way their spouse needed. Once they discovered this, they knew how to love their spouse so their spouse felt loved. Things changed very quickly. Their marriage was saved. That was over ten years ago. They are still married. This book is especially important for men. Their job from Ephesians is to love their wives like Christ loved the church and gave his life up for her. The wife’s job is to respect her husband. More on all that another time.
Hannah: Excellent! Looking forward to more. Thank you so much!
